I feel like I've come to an end point, for now, with plants and flowers. I have taken way too many recently and it's become boring if not exceedingly difficult. These photos generally don't speak to me; their meaning is elusive to me even if I actually like the image. Clearly my camera and brain need a break from this subject matter. Over the last year I've been really interested in plant texture in black and white, but the execution has proved troublesome. If I let go, maybe it will come more naturally. re-imagining

Photography forces travel. It wants it, it craves it, it needs it. How many times can you photograph your backyard? As a photographer you need to break away from the mundane and find new subjects, new ideas, new moods! In the last twelve months, I've gone thousands of miles in all different directions and my camera has gone with me. This year, I have fanciful thoughts of going to Oregon, Hawaii, Europe. Maybe it'll happen. My portfolio will certainly benefit. I'll have unfamiliar, wonderful, lush things to photograph and I'll be dizzy with excitement. Ted and I just did another photo shoot with the same little girl that I mentioned last time as well as her nine-year-old cousin. This photo shoot was much different than last time with the two-year-old and her mother (with aunt and grandma occasionally). We faced a lot of new challenges: light, setting, tone, and primarily for me doing better than I did last time. We couldn't exactly figure out where to go -- our clients thought the place we suggested was too informal, and we felt the place they suggested was too formal.
